Early this week I was trying to access a forum a regularly visit and noticed it was down. The downtime lasted 24 hours or so and when it came back online I read this message of apology from the site owner.
This sort of things happens more often than people realise to sites that are big and small. It can devastate an online business or permanently tarnish a reputation. Digital Point has over a million users so you can image the data lost was quite a bit.
WordPress users also run into trouble as many of them do not backup regularly enough. It is easy enough to do yourself and protects from losing everything should the worst happen.
A great thing about using TweakDorks is that we backup the clients site before undertaking any customisation work. We know the value of a backup. We have filled up several tera bytes of data from a secure cloud storage server from Thexyz.
How do I backup my website?
It is really easy and takes just a few minutes, there is a Youtube video here for backing up your site with cPanel or the Hepsia control panel at Thexyz Server.
Can I automate the backup?
Yes there are a number of ways you could do this. I have mine going through an automatic weekly backup with Thexyz Server. It costs just $6.99 per month and backs up the full server, once or twice a week.
If you do not have an account with Thexyz Server, there is also Driond that offer similar service for the same price or Thexyz Cloud that would allow the automatic synchronisation of a server with large data loads.
Remember to do a backup of your website and save yourself from chance of losing your site. There are people like Dr. Tech who can also assist with this process.
