Here at TweakDorks many of our recent requests have been done through working with various clients that use the phpFox social networking script.
We try to pack as much value as we can into each Tweak and this is done by suggesting other tweaks that can be included into those that have been requested by the client. A good example of this is the Janrain social connect integration.
Adding Janrain to your phpFox site is a great way to allow your users to connect and sign up for your site or service by simply using existing social networks such as Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn etc.
We have found this to be much more reliable than using the built in Facebook connect that comes with the phpFox script. This is because Facebook always changes how they provide their services. With Janrain you know that these services are kept up to date without you having to worry about updating the integration yourself.
By choosing to add Janrain integration to phpFox you will still need to create apps withing the API developer section of sites like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. At TweakDorks, we will take care of this process for you so needn’t worry about setting up a developer account.
Janrain provides its services free with restrictions, to overcome these restrictions you will need to pay a modest $10 per month and then you can choose more than six social services to allow your users to connect with. For most people, six social services is enough and the free service provided is more than adequate. You will also be limited by the number of sign ups allowed through social connect buttons per month.
By default phpFox provides one set of icons for Janrain integration and if you choose to change these, you will have to also create new icons. By using the TweakDorks service, we will take care of this icon creation for you. Ptoone has also produced several ready made variations for this.
